After socialism collapsed in the USSR and the East European countries, some countries and many socialist political parties alleged they were building socialism. But neither heads of state nor party delegations visited Lenin’s mausoleum and laid wreaths before it.
Chairman Kim Jong Il visited Lenin’s mausoleum in the Red Square, Moscow on August 4, 2001.
The Chairman felt very painful at the deserted atmosphere around the mausoleum which nobody visited. He got near a wreath and adjusted ribbons of the wreath. Then he observed a moment silence.
The working-class leader of the world who would have been buried in oblivion by betrayers’ moves to desecrate revolutionary forerunners was memorized again among the people by Chairman Kim Jong Il’s visit to the mausoleum.
The Chairman considered it as conscience and obligation to visit as a revolutionary the mausoleum of Lenin who had started the world socialist cause and visited it whatever others would say. The world people were deeply impressed by his iron faith and will.
Russian newspaper carried an article said… Kim Jong Il is the first top-level foreign guest who visited the mausoleum of Lenin, the great revolutionary and statesman of the 20th century, which no one had never visited since the collapse of the Soviet Union. It was of no doubt that the Russian people learn after the trait of Kim Jong Il who respected and valued the history.
Political, public and press circles and progressive people in several countries of the world admired as “the first international event of 2001” the historic visit of Chairman Kim Jong Il who showed the noble sense of revolutionary moral obligation.
The next year, the world was shocked once again.
When he visited Komsomolsk-na-Amure, Russia, Chairman Kim Jong Il first went to the monument to martyrs of the fatherland war. Like the time he visited Lenin’s mausoleum, the Chairman adjusted ribbons with sincerity and respectfully paid a silent tribute in memory of the martyrs. Then he looked around group sculptures depicted the image of fallen martyrs of the fatherland war.
When the ennobling image of the Chairman who looked around the monument was televised, the Russian people were moved very much. Since the next day, the number of people who visited the monument increased rapidly following steps of the Chairman.
The world knew once again that Kim Jong Il was the great person, indeed.
