In the days of leading the Songun revolution, Chairman Kim Jong Il left many stories associated with the love for the commanding officers of the Korean People’s Army.

Story about an uncommon toast was one of them.

It was an evening on the founding day of the armed forces in one year.

Kim Jong Il called the KPA commanding officers to congratulate them greeting the founding day of the armed forces.

Participated in the glorious venue was a general of the People’s Army who had been received medical treatment in hospital not long ago.

Kim Jong Il let him come near and asked in detail about his health with paternal affection.

Hearing of his reply that he was in good health, Kim Jong Il said that he intended not to invite him but he did as it was the founding day of the armed forces, and gave a detailed instruction even about the diet stressing that he should receive medical treatment well.

At that moment, he could not hold back tears as Kim Jong Il’s deep affection for his fellow comrade moved him.

After a while, Kim Jong Il filled the toast glasses of the commanding officers of the People’s Army congratulating the founding day of the armed forces and approached to the general.

Looking at him thoughtfully, Kim Jong Il said that he should not drink liquor. Filling his glass with water, he told him to drink it as a toast because it was the founding day of the armed forces.

With an uncommon toast, he hesitated what to say to Kim Jong Il.

Reading his mind, Kim Jong Il told him with great affection and trust to work well with good health and proposed him a toast.

He burst out tears at last.

That day the commanding officers of the People’s Army cried from the bottom of their hearts, looking up to the great brilliant commander of Songun who gave affection for and trust in his fellow comrade through toast.

The toast given by Kim Jong Il was life-giving water of immortality that could be received only by his fellow comrades.

Indeed, Kim Jong Il’s affection for and trust in his revolutionary comrades can be compared to nothing.
