A child poem “Our Classroom” is an everlasting masterpiece created by the great leader Comrade Kim Jong Il in 1954.

Through the description of classroom on which President Kim Il Sung’s portrait is hung, the poem depicts boundless reverence for the President.

The poem is composed of 6 stanzas.

While singing the pride of hanging the President’s portrait in the lovely and cheerful classroom, the poem depicts the noble feeling as if they hear of the President’s benevolent voice telling them to study hard as always whenever they entered the classroom.

Our lovely classroom, Always pleasant and delightful. In front hangsThe bright picture of the Marshal. When we entered our classroomHappy and cheerful this morning,The picture seemed to smile,Telling us to work hard as always.

The poem singing in an excited tone the happiness of holding high the President pervades not only in the classroom but across the country where the song of construction rings out loud. In particular, through the ardent appeal to sing the song of the President who leads the Korean people towards victory, the poem expands the boundless reverence for the President to be the all-people emotion of praise.

Winter is gone,Willows are green in the spring breeze. As the song of construction rings out loud,We give our hearts to the Marshal. We have emerged victorious. The praises of the Marshal let’s sing!A happy land of democracy is rising. The song of our Marshal let’s sing!

And it focused again in the “our classroom” on the ideological emotion that roused in the “lovely classroom” and unfolded by its combination with a “happy land of democracy is rising”, thus highly expressing the strong appeal and ardent passion to be the builders of the new country as the President instructed.

Our classroom is clean and lovely. As we sit at our desks,He tells us with a benign smile,“Be good children of the new country.” To the Marshal we give our hearts always.Let’s be builders of the new country,Let’s get ourselves ready always, As the Marshal instructed.

Like this, through the depiction of the emotional feeling that is experienced whenever they entered the classroom where the portrait of the President is hung, the poem sings in philosophically ardent ideological feeling of the Korean children and people who are to boundlessly revere and follow forever the President.

The profound idea of the poem is not expressed in direct way but in a profound and rich lyric way, thus arousing strong emotional inspiration.

The poem serves as the exemplary work of the revolutionary poetic literature thanks to its profoundness in its ideological content and perfection of its artistic delineation.
