“Our father is Marshal Kim Il Sung”--these are the words from the song We Are the Happiest in the World the DPRK schoolchildren and people love to sing.
A song loved by people reflects their ideological feelings and sentiments and features of the times, and shows vivid picture of their life.
As the Korean people, youth and students all sing, President Kim Il Sung was a benevolent father who embraced them in his bosom and took meticulous and warm care of them.
In particular, love and benevolence shown by the President to the rising generation is not forgotten even if days may go by and everything changes but kept dearly in minds of the people.
One day in June 1969 the President convened the meeting of the Political Commission of the Central Committee of the Workers’ Party of Korea and gave precious instructions to speed up preparations for the schoolchildren’s new school year.
While discussing an issue of building of schools, the President said… We are parents of schoolchildren. So this political commission meeting is as same as the one of the schoolchildren’s parents. Parents are here and we must solve the problem arising in educating the children.
At a consultative meeting of senior officials in the economic sector the President had discussed the issue of supplying fish to the children at nurseries and kindergartens all over the country and fruits to the pupils at primary and middle schools every day.
The President had seen that primary and middle schools were not built too high for the young schoolchildren’s growth and primary and middle schools built in sunny and quiet places. He had also taken measures to build a school for one or two pupils in a solitary area and provided trains, buses and cars for school use.
Thanks to the boundless love and benevolence of the President who became a father of the children in the country, the DPRK has established the advanced system of nursing and upbringing of children and free education system in which the state takes responsibility of raising and educating the younger generation. Schools of all levels, nurseries, kindergartens, students and children’s palaces, students and children’s halls, youth halls and libraries for schoolchildren have been built in every sunny and cozy place and Children’s Union camps set up in every beautiful place and scenic spot.
Nurseries, kindergartens, schools of all levels, and camps have their clinics and hospitals which take care of the children’s health.
The state supplies children and students every season with new clothes and school uniforms at low price and makes low the price of necessities for children and students. The DPRK created the history of great love of having provided several times the children and students of the country with complete set of clothes and school uniform, hosiery, footwear, leather s
When a head of a state met the President, he asked how it was possible in the DPRK to educate the pupils and students free of charge and supply uniforms to them at low price. At that time the President said to him… Our country puts big effort to development of school education even though other sectors may be sacrificed. We never invest much money to the education sector because we are rich.
The President was the children’s and students’ benevolent father who stopped his car by roadsides to look at schoolchildren’s dressing, open their schoolbags and lunch boxes when they passed by. He found himself among the children and pupils to appreciate their singing and dancing and spent half a day with schoolchildren in new uniforms to take photos of them.
President Kim Il Sung, the benevolent father will be eternal in the minds of the Korean people and the world progressives along with the grateful socialist system where the Party and the state provide the new generation with food, clothes and education and take care of their health.
