President Kim Il Sung Gave Scientific Explanation to Independence

President Kim Il Sung newly elucidated that independence is basic attribute of man.

When he established view on man, the President paid keen attention to the problem of man’s freedom and rights.

In his early years, the President keenly realized the truth that man must not be deprived of freedom and independent rights even if he dies.

Witnessing the people sacrificing their life for freedom and rights, the President established the view on man’s freedom and rights.

Through the image of the working class and peasants across the country conducting death-defying struggle against the Japanese imperialists’ colonial rule, the President felt keenly the common aspiration of the people who fought for man’s freedom, the freedom of the country and nation. Through the will of the revolutionaries fighting for the country’s freedom and sovereignty at the risk of their lives while singing the Song of Freedom in the days of the anti-Japanese war, the President felt strongly that living freely is the most elementary and vital demand of man enabling man to display the biggest mental strength and will.

During his revolutionary activities, the President established a new view on man’s nature with man’s fundamental demand for freedom as a core.

Sometime when he received a political activist of some country on his visit to the DPRK, the President gave classic definition to the independence that the President had defined as man’s intrinsic nature.

    President Kim Il Sung said.

“Man wishes to live freely without being restrained by anything. The quality of man to live freely as the master of the world is termed independence.”

The President considered that independence, which is expressed as man’s demand and aspiration for genuine freedom, is the basic attribute of man who is desirous of living and developing as master of the world and his own destiny without being restricted or fettered to anything. With independence, man adds luster to his dignity and value as the only independent being in the world while positively transforming and changing the world in accordance with his demand for shaping his own destiny.

Nature to live freely which the President regarded as man’s attribute has nothing to do with an individual “freedom” or bourgeois self-indulgence. It is the nature to live and develop independently as master of the world and his own destiny while leading a genuine life, free from all sorts of subordinations and restrictions.

Like this, President Kim Il Sung put forward independence as man’s basic attribute and gave a scientific explanation to it, out of his experience and scientific view on man’s freedom.
