    On October 3, 1968 Chairman Kim Jong Il told officials a meaningful story about the solemn and strong spirit of Mt. Paektu which is permeated with sacred traces of President Kim Il Sung and warm feelings of the revolutionary martyrs.

    The Chairman said with deep emotion that Mt. Paektu is a world-famous mountain, indeed; when he climbed on the top of Mt. Paektu, he felt that it is really majestic and beautiful and the more he looks at it, the more magnificent and mysterious it looks.

    He said that visiting Mt. Kumgang or Mt. Myohyang reminded him of the beautiful country, whereas climbing Mt. Paektu made him encouraged and consider the revolution.

    Mt. Paektu, which had been called the ancestral mountain from the old times, became the sublime mountain of revolution since the President launched the anti-Japanese revolutionary struggle.

    Telling the officials that every mountain range and valley of Mt. Paektu is associated with the sacred traces of the President, the Chairman declared that Mt. Paektu is, indeed, the mountain of the President.

    He continued to say… I used to be in deep emotion whenever I had a bird’s-eye view of mountains and rivers of the country. This time on top of Mt. Paektu I made a firm resolution to thoroughly defend and add brilliance to the glorious revolutionary traditions and continue the bloodline of Juche to accomplish to the end the revolutionary cause started on Mt. Paektu no matter how fierce storm may blow.

    Much moved, the officials decided to hold the Chairman in high esteem to make revolution to the end.
