On June 10, 1956, the study tour group to the revolutionary battle sites led by Chairman Kim Jong Il left Lake Samji and headed to Rimyong Stream.
It took 60 ri from Lake Samji to Rimyong Stream. The Chairman decided to get there on foot.
The Chairman said to the schoolmates that he decided to march on foot to the Stream to apply the indomitable revolutionary spirit of anti-Japanese guerillas in actual life and asked them whether they could march 60 ri.
They all replied they could.
Having the Chairman in van, the group marched singing in high spirit.
When the group arrived at Namphot
Much tired, members of the study tour group took off their knapsacks here and there.
The Chairman rearranged their knapsacks in line and said they should rest even for a while in a disciplined and orderly manner like the anti-Japanese guerillas had done since they were at the revolutionary battle sites. He said that through the study tour they should learn after the revolutionary spirit, high sense of organization and discipline while experiencing life of the anti-Japanese guerillas.
Suddenly it started to rain when the group approached the place within hail of Hunggyesu Table.
All members stopped singing. They became serious.
When a boy who suffered from tonsillitis found it difficult to march, space became wide between the members and speed of the march became slow.
The Chairman carried the sick boy’s knapsack on his shoulder and covered his own raincoat over the boy. The Chairman encouraged him to overcome difficulties like the guerillas who had braved through the severe snowstorms in the thick forest of Mt. Paektu.
Then he started to sing “March of Guerillas.”
Space of the group was narrowed again. The march was speeded up and singing was full of vigour.
