It was afternoon on April 17, 1946 when President Kim Il Sung attended a welcoming banquet arranged by the Hungnam People’s Factory.
Manager of the factory delivered an address welcoming the President and introduced two technicians who rendered distinguished services in rehabilitating the factory.
When they were defeated, the Japanese imperialists reduced the factory buildings to ruin and burnt up all designs and technical documents. However, the workers in the factory joined efforts with the technicians true to the President’s line of building a new country, thus building again the factory and starting to produce chemical goods.

The manager poured wine for the President. The President proposed all to drink off the cups. The President said in a satisfactory tone that he had conviction looking round the factory. He said that he was pleased as they made a good job and all workers and technicians had a strong sense of awareness to rehabilitate and run the factory with their own efforts.
He repeatedly expressed his satisfaction saying that Hungnam is the center and heart of Korea’s industry and its strengthening is good news.
Responding to the President’s encouragement, all the participants made a big applause.
