Juche

    As recognized by many people in the world, the main feature of the Juche philosophy is that it centers on man.

    Chairman Kim Jong Il said:

    “The philosophical principle of the Juche idea is the principle of man-centered philosophy which explains man’s position and role in the world.”

    That the Juche philosophy is the philosophy which centers on man means that it raised the fundamental question of philosophy by regarding man as the main factor and elucidated the view on the world, the viewpoint and attitude towards the world, centering on man.

    First of all, the Juche philosophy newly raised and elucidated the fundamental question of philosophy, centering on man.

    The fundamental question of the earlier philosophies was the relation between matter and consciousness, being and thinking, that is, the question of the origin of the world. This question was solved by the Marxist philosophy that proved the primacy of matter and being.

    The Juche philosophy newly raised the fundamental question of philosophy centring on man, under the condition that the origin of the world was solved materialistically. That is the question of relation between man and the world, that is, the question of the position and role of man in the world. The principle which gives answer to the question of what position and role man takes in the world is the man-centered philosophy which means man is the master of everything and decides everything.

    For the next, the Juche philosophy is the philosophy that scientifically elucidates the world outlook that centers on man.

    Before the Juche philosophy, there were idealistic philosophy which gave absurd outlook on the world giving first consideration to nonexistent god, idea or spirit and materialistic philosophy that gave outlook on the world basing on the matter.

    There were also philosophies that placed man in to the fore but they just negated the original task of philosophy which should give outlook on the world, but just argued about what a man is and what a human life is.

    Different from this, the Juche philosophy elucidated the new view, viewpoint and attitude on the world, centring on man.

    The new view the Juche philosophy gave is that the world is dominated and transformed by man and the viewpoint and attitude are that we must approach the world proceeding from the interest of man and centring on his activities. This makes the Juche philosophy new man-centered philosophy which is different from all the other philosophies.

    The Juche philosophy which newly elucidated the view, viewpoint and attitude on the world centering on man, is a noble guideline that helps man successfully shape his destiny by cognizing and transforming the world correctly and helps to build a society where everything serves and respects man.

    Like this the Juche philosophy is an original man-centred philosophy which elucidated the fundamental questions and principles of philosophy, centering on man, unlike the previous philosophies.
