    “The age-long, ceaseless struggle of the masses for independence can win its ultimate aim by building socialism and communism. The struggle for socialism and communism is the highest stage of the struggle for independence.”

    First, the struggle for socialism is to end once and for all the exploitation of man by man, the oppression of class by class, and the domination of state by state in human history.

    The age-long struggle of social revolution of the masses has not put an end to the exploitation and oppression of man by man nor realized social and political independence. Only the struggle for socialism liberates the popular masses from all forms of exploitation and oppression and realizes their social and political independence.

    Next, the struggle for socialism is to wipe out all remnants of old societies handed down through history.

    Realizing the social and political independence of the masses free from all sorts of exploitation and oppression marks an epoch-making turn in the struggle for independence. However, the independence of the masses is not fully realized only with it. After the establishment of the socialist system remnants of old societies still remain and restrict the independence of the masses. Remnants of old societies can be removed through the three revolutions for socialist construction. They are liquidated only through the three revolutions for socialist construction. When the complete victory of socialism is achieved through the three revolutions, the masses will lead a full independent life as genuine masters of nature, society and themselves.

    Like this, the struggle for socialism is the highest stage in the struggle for independence of the popular masses as it is the one to realize social and political independence of the popular masses and liquidate all remnants of old societies.
