The interests of man in the Juche idea have nothing in common with the greedy private interests of individual human being advocated by pragmatism.
Leader Kim Jong Il said:
“Taking a man-centred attitude towards the world means approaching the world from the viewpoint of interests of man, the master of the world.”
The interests of man in Juche-oriented viewpoint is that of man as social being with independence, creativity and consciousness, the master of the world, that is the interests of the popular masses. But the interests of man in pragmatism means the greedy private one such as desire for acquisition of wealth, fame and domination, that is the interests of reactionary exploiting and ruling classes.
From this, if they rely on Juche-oriented viewpoint which proceeds from the interests of man in the analysis and evaluation on matter and phenomena, they can select valuable ones contributing to the independent and creative life of man who aims to live and develop as master of the world and his own destiny, but he cannot do, if they rely on the pragmatic viewpoint.
Next, the interests of man based on the viewpoint of Juche consider both the near and the far, the partial and the total.
But in pragmatism they neglect the far, the future and the total and pursue only the partial and present purpose. Therefore, these viewpoints produce contradictory results in man’s activities of cognizing and transforming the world.
For example, in the viewpoint of Juche, when they build up a factory or a house, they regard the promotion of health and welfare of people as the main and invest huge amount of money for them without calculation, but in pragmatic viewpoint they only pay their attention to making money irrespective of destruction of environment and life of people.
