What does it mean that man is the master of the society?

It means that man is the master of social wealth and social relations.

    Leader Kim Jong Il said:

“Society consists of people, the social wealth they have created and the social relations which link them. Here man is always the master.”

Society is the collective of people. Without man there can never be a society. But it does not mean that society consists of only man. Society consists of man, social wealth and social relations and man is the master of them all. It is because both social wealth and social relations are made, used and transformed by man.

First man is the master of social wealth.

It is because social wealth is made by man and serves man.

Social wealth is all made by man. Of course here material and technical means including machinery and equipments play an important role. Material and technical means also take the place of actions of man’s physical and mental strength according to their level of development. But every material and technical means is made and moved by man and used to manufacture social wealth in accordance with man’s intention.

Social wealth has its value as long as it serves man. Social wealth is necessary for man. The value of social wealth depends on how it is used for man.

Like this man is the master of social wealth because it is made by man and serves man.

Man is also the master of social relations. He establishes social relations and transforms and develops it. He manufactures social wealth necessary for his existence and development and actively establishes social relations in order to use it rationally. The character of social relations depends on demands and ability of members in a given society. Man continuously transforms the social relations in conformity with his ever-increasing demands and will. The higher their independent demands and creative ability are the more progressive social relations are established.

Man is the master of social relations because he not only demands it but also establishes and develops it.
