The article entitled “Legendary Great Man, Chairman Kim Jong Il of National Defence Commission” issued in Uganda in 2003 on the occasion of the anniversary of his election as the Chairman of the National Defence Commission of the DPRK noted as follows.

Chairman Kim Jong Il chose the road of Songun politics unprecedented in history on the basis of rich experience gained in the course of his protracted political activities and the philosophy on arms.

He pursued the politics on the principle of giving precedence to the military affairs and thus turned the Korean People’s Army into the powerful army perfect both in politico-ideological aspect and military and technical aspect, and built up the national strength so as to destroy the enemy’s reckless anti-DPRK isolation and stifling machinations.

Noting that the might of Songun politics has been proved in making a breakthrough in the building of an economic giant, the article said that events occurred in the DPRK clearly proved the Chairman’s prominence of the political ability and resources. It stressed that the realities in the DPRK are miracles, adding that the Chairman is a legendary great man.
