True to the decisions of the Sixth Plenary Meeting of the Eighth Central Committee of the Workers’ Party of Korea, universities in every part of the country set bold and high objectives of research to push ahead with development of the self-supporting economy by dint of science and technology and launch brain and research campaigns in pulsating realities.

Research groups at Kim Il Sung University and many others make efforts to solve scientific and technical problems urgently needed in realities. Those at Kim Chaek University of Technology take the lead in solving problems in production of metal, chemical and machine-building industrial bases and modernization of their production lines.

Those at Pyongyang University of Architecture make dynamic scientific research activities in several units of power and chemical industries. Those at Pyongyang University of Mechanical Engineering put spurs to the research work for the modernization of the Kumsong Tractor Factory of the 2^nd stage and the Pyongyang Dental Hygiene Products Factory.
