    Hunminjongum is the Korean national alphabet created in January, 1444.

    Earlier the Korean nation had relied on Ridu alphabet (written Korean in Chinese character) which dated back to the time of three Kingdoms. In 1444, advanced model of Korean alphabet called Hunminjongum was created.

    Hunminjongum can well express not only all the sounds of the Korean language but also most of the spoken languages of other countries freely. Scientific is its creation principle and it has a certain order and thus it is easy to learn and write.

    Creation of Hunminjongum gave a strong impetus to the development of the Korean language.
