The DPRK that is building a thriving country conducts on a grand scale the work of building Pyongyang, its capital, into a modern city which conforms to the ideal of the people, thus changing features of Pyongyang on a new basis.

Many parks and pleasure grounds in the Pyongyang city were turned into cultural and recreation centre of the people. The Kaeson Youth Park and Central Zoo were turned into modern ones. The Rungna People’s Pleasure Ground was built in Rungna Island on River Taedong. The Rungna People’s Pleasure Ground consists of Dolphinarium, Wading Pool, Recreation Park, Mini Golf Lane.
Big success was made in repairing carriage ways and foot ways in Pyongyang city and making it full of trees and flowers. Road of the central districts were repaired, tens of thousands of metres of curbstones and tens of thousands of square metres of blocks changed, distinguished lines made in several streets including the Pipha Street, electric picture stands erected at the bus stops. Rails of Okryu Bridge and entrances of pedestrian’s underground crossing were changed with silver-white stainless ones, thus adding to scenic beauty of the streets.
Styphnolobium japonicum were planted on vast areas of the Pipha Street and Metasequoia glyptostroboides around the Juchethap Street, Hyoksin Street and Tondaewon District to build a ten thousand and several thousands of square metres of forest in the capital with good trees.
