DPRK’s Economy Relied on Its Own Natural Resources

    Recently the national economy of the DPRK develops by relying on its own natural resources more thoroughly.

    The DPRK that aspires for an economic giant considers it as an important task to rely on its own natural resources thoroughly and develop the economy.

    Solving the problems of raw material, fuel and power urgently needed in production and construction with one’s own natural resources is the demand for building an independent national economy and the basic guarantee for developing continuously without being moved by any economic upheavals.

    The DPRK achieved many successes in developing the economy with its own natural resources under the wise guidance of leader Kim Jong Il in recent years.

    The chemical fertilizer sector established the system of producing fertilizers by gasification of coal and thus produced fertilizers with anthracite coal and brown coal.

    The Munphyong Smeltery newly built peculiar style process of producing non-ferrous metal with coal abundant in Korea as a fuel. Big achievements were made also in putting the production of magnesia clinker on Juche basis and supplying domestic natural resources to several sectors which had relied on imported ones.

    The DPRK consolidates its own bases of raw materials, fuel and power and expands them.

    Recently the DPRK succeeded in nuclear fusion. As a result, the Korean-style peculiar thermo-nuclear reacting device was designed and manufactured, basic research on nuclear fusion reaction finished and strong scientific and technical forces provided to complete the thermo-nuclear technique. It opened a bight vista that can develop its own nuclear power.

    The DPRK expands and develops electricity production capacity relied on its rich hydraulic resources to strengthen its power bases.

    Such large-scale hydraulic power stations as Anbyon Youth Power Station and Wonsan Youth Power Station were completed and the Huichon Power Station with a capacity of hundreds of thousands of kw of electricity was built. In addition, medium- and small-scale power stations were built in large quantities in every part of the country, thus strengthening its power bases considerably.

    The DPRK places state investment on the mining industry before others to strengthen further its independent bases of fuel and raw materials.

    Many coal mines and pits were newly built and the existed coal mines modernized successfully, thus laying better foundations to increase coal production. Large-scale project of expanding the capacity to convey ores was completed in a short period in the Komdok Mining Complex and capacity of the Unryul Mine, Sangwon Limestone Mine and other mines were expanded, thus providing with a firm guarantee to supplying sufficient raw materials necessary for the development of non-ferrous metal industry and the improvement of people’s living.

    The DPRK strengthens scientific study for developing natural resources to find out more underground natural resources and thus expands further its raw materials and fuel bases.

    It also develops the economy by relying on its scientists and technicians.

    It is impossible to strengthen independence of the economy and develop it continuously only when it builds up the rank of scientists and technicians and relies on them.

    The DPRK strengthens education to train its needed scientific and technical personnel. It finds out pupils with outstanding talents and skills and trains them systematically. It strengthens material and technical foundations of schools at all levels and colleges and universities and develop education in conformity with the requirement of the IT era to train many brilliant scientists and technicians.

    In the DPRK the scientists and technicians play important role in solving scientific and technical problems in developing its economy. Its scientists and technicians registered achievements in producing the Juche iron, Juche fertilizer and Juche vinalon. They design and manufacture up-to-date CNC equipment at their needs. They put factories and enterprises on a modern and IT basis in conformity with the requirement of the era of the knowledge-based economy.

    The DPRK which develops the economy by relying on its own human and material resources will occupy the position of being an economic giant in a short period.
