The revolutionary opera “Song of Mt. Kumgang” is one of the five revolutionary operas which were finely created in a short period of time under the energetic guidance of leader Kim Jong Il.
It shows vividly the superiority of the DPRK’s socialist system established by President Kim Il Sung in comparison with the past days through a dramatic story that a composer’s family members meet each other after over 20 years after having been separated by force because they had no country and rights in the period of Japanese imperialist colonial rule.
Leader Kim Jong Il said that the issue of conflict doesn’t arise in creating a work reflecting the reality of the DPRK’s socialism where the positive is the main. He illuminated in detail the issues to be focused in drama which is vital in arranging drama and arousing emotion, so that the revolutionary opera “Song of Mt. Kumgang” could capture the audience with dramatic emotion even it had no conflicts. He also polished up every word of its songs to perfect them into famous ones and saw to that its music, dance and stage arts were created to improve the styles of the opera.
The revolutionary opera “Song of Mt. Kumgang” was wonderfully created and first staged on April 15, 1973 under the presence of President Kim Il Sung.
