An immortal class work Three Pretenders is the one written by President Kim Il Sung in March 1929 when he conducted revolutionary activities, being enrolled at Jilin Yuwen Middle School.
The work written against the background of the time when the factional strife of nationalists and factionalists who caused tremendous damage in the Korean revolution became ever more serious as the days went by, depicted the story of a fantastic kingdom Songdoguk, in which three ministers affiliated with different parties fight while contriving all sorts of scheme and trick to seize power after death of their king ruining the nation. Through the satirical depiction, the drama explains the truth that factional strife and division leads to national ruin.
With only satirical negative characters instead of positive ones, the drama shows comic disposition and weakness of satirical characters through keen and satiric laughter caused by self-contradictions of negative ones.
