The seed revolution is an important issue which is directly linked with the prosperity of a country and the promotion of the people’s living standard.
The main thing in agriculture is the seed. Seed is quite necessary for agricultural production and good seed can boost the production. All the processes and means of the agricultural production serve the seed to get good fruit. The reality tells that with good seed, we can create innovation in agriculture but if we neglect seed, agriculture gets backward and we can neither expect national prosperity nor display fully the advantages of socialism.
In the DPRK, they pay deep attention to seed production.
In the agricultural sector, they establish Juche in the seed production and get good seeds that suit to the climatic and soil conditions of Korea.

They also make efforts to introduce high-yield seeds from foreign countries.

In the DPRK, they make seed revolution not only in grain farming but in animal husbandry, fruit farming and fish breeding.
By intensifying animal husbandry breeding, they try to get a lot of good breeds of domestic animals.
They pay attention to the work of getting the breeds that need a little feed but grow quickly, that have high breeding rate and strong against diseases. Their goal is to get the breeds that eat a little grain feed but grow quickly.
They produce good animal breeds by establishing Juche and introducing the successes of modern science and technology such as cell and gene engineering.
They do by their own efforts and import good breeds through active scientific and technical exchanges with foreign countries and grow them through test stage.
They try to get high-yield seeds that suit to Korean climatic conditions also in the sectors like fruit farming, fish breeding and sericulture.
Next, for seed revolution, they establish seed-gathering system and improve it.
Seed-gathering is an important component part of the seed revolution. Although new high-yield varieties are produced, they can not be introduced and effective in production, if the seed-gathering is poor.
In farming sector, they establish the system to supply the different regions and co-operative farms with good necessary seeds through scientific seed-gathering. They also build modern seed processing factories as required by the era of scientific farming and supply the farms with seeds after carefully selecting and coating them in a comprehensive way.
In the sector of animal husbandry, they build good breeding stock farms and establish the animal-breed production and supply system.
The state pays attention to the building of modern breeding stock farms and supplies them with necessary feed preferentially. On the basis of the latest science and technology, they improve the method of breed production and supply system. By establishing the system of preserving the original breed, they prevent the animals from degeneration or disappearance. They protect and multiply the indigenous animals whose meat is tasty such as the indigenous pigs and chicken and preserve and increase the famous Korean bulls and Phungsan hounds.
The vigorous seed revolution taking place in the DPRK renders big contributions to solving the food problem by rapidly increasing agricultural production.
