On July 27, 2013 the Korean people mark the 60th anniversary of the victory in the great Fatherland Liberation War.
With the passage of time, great victory in the Fatherland Liberation War implants the great national pride and self-confidence in the hearts of the Korean people.
The great significance of the victory in the past Fatherland Liberation War lies in the fact that it proved it as a truth of history that any formidable enemy can be defeated when the leadership of the Party and the leader is great and the mental strength of the army and people is strong.
The entire human and material resources of a country are mobilized in a war. Of course, the number of army and the military and technical equipment are important in a war. But the main is the ideological and mental condition of the people in a war. Even though they have huge armed forces and military equipment, they cannot demonstrate their efficiency if the army and the people are not prepared ideologically.
Victory in the last Fatherland Liberation War was the victory of sturdy mental strength of the Korean people built by President Kim Il Sung.
The Fatherland Liberation War was the fierce confrontation between the 2-year-old DPRK and the imperialist formidable enemy who had a history of a hundred and tens of years of aggression and fattened through the World War II.
The US imperialists put huge armed forces including 15 satellite countries into the Korean War in order to nip the DPRK in the bud.
The US imperialists’ numerical, military and technical superiorities and brutal and atrocious nature could not match the mental strength of the Korean people.
Victory in the Fatherland Liberation War was, first of all, the victory of the spirit of great unity of the Korean people who trusted and followed the Party and the leader absolutely.
Fundamental secret of victory in the revolutionary war lies in the single-hearted unity between the leader, the army and the people.
The great leader Comrade Kim Il Sung served as a mental pillar and symbol of victory for the Korean army and the people who overcame difficult trial.
Firm faith that they would emerge victorious in the war as they had President Kim Il Sung, “do-or-die” spirit that they would defend the Supreme Command and realize Kim Il Sung’s operational plan and intention at the cost of their life; these were the spirit of unity filled in the hearts of the army and the people.
In the whole process of Fatherland Liberation War, such great spirit enabled the Korean army and the people to create astonishing military miracles unprecedented in the world war history.
In fact, it is natural that if a country even with huge military potentials is invaded by surprise, it would fall into chaos and undergo throes for some time.
But Korea switched over to the immediate and decisive counterattack on the enemy from the beginning of the war to reverse the situation of the war and deal continuous blow to enemy, as there was powerful unity under which the entire army and the people acted as one in keeping with the intention of the great leader Comrade Kim Il Sung.
The Korean army and the people fought a life-and-death battle against the enemy to defend the Supreme Command both in front and the rear, always earnestly wishing good health of Kim Il Sung.
All victories in the severe 3-year Fatherland Liberation War were inconceivable, apart from the spirit of great unity following and supporting their leader with faith and will.
It is the noblest truth left by the past Fatherland Liberation War that no force on earth can conquer such country in which the army and the people are firmly united behind the Party and the leader.
Victory in the Fatherland Liberation War was, next, the victory of spirit of ardent love for the country possessed by the Korean army and the people that they would fight against class enemies to the end.
The Korean people were deprived of their country by Japanese imperialists to suffer from the sadness and disgrace of the ruined nation and thus they kept a value of the country utmost.
It was only 5 years that the Korean people created a new life with the joy of liberation. But it was truly unforgettable days in which they became the masters of the country and the land to lead human life for the first time in their life.
The Korean people who deeply understood through their actual life that they could not live together with the sworn class enemies and that it was as same as dead life if they do not have their fatherland could turn out in the decisive battles with the US imperialists in the period of the Fatherland Liberation War.
When the country was faced with the severe difficulties, the Korean people strived to volunteer for service in the People’s Army with the burning hatred against the aggressors.
Spirit of ardent love for the motherland enabled the Korean army and the people to fight, even sacrificing their one and only life for their only country. Cherishing heroic resolve that they could not be salves again, the coast artillerymen in Wolmi islet and the defenders of the Height 1211 defended every inch of the country at the cost of their blood and the Korean people carried the munitions and foods to the fighting mountains in a hail of bullets.
Such picture of heroic merits left the truth in the history of anti-imperialist struggle that the army and the people who are possessed of ardent love for the country win sure victory in the struggle against any invaders.
Victory in the Fatherland Liberation War was, next, the victory that was gained in the spirit of self-reliance possessed by the Korean army and the people who believed in their strength and redoubled their efforts to rise up in any trials.
The Fatherland Liberation War clearly proved to the world how thoroughgoing the spirit of self-reliance of the KPA and the people who inherited the brilliant tradition created during the anti-Japanese armed struggle were.
In fact, it was not easy for a young country to undergo severe war for 3 years against the huge imperialist allied forces.
But the army and the people in Korea fought life-and-death battles against imperialist invaders with the confidence in their own strength.
Even in the difficult condition of wartime, Korea trained the commanding officials of the People’s Army, increased the combat capabilities of all branches of arms and services.
Submachine guns, mortars, ammunitions and shells were produced by their own efforts.
Soldiers of the People’s Army built blacksmith’s shop in the tunnel to make necessaries with their own efforts and made front-line musical instruments from nothing in the fierce wartime to unfold the art festival of servicemen.
The Korean working class rolled the belts of machines with their bare hands to ensure the production out of desire to produce more bullets and rifles as much as they could and as fast as they could.
In the rural areas, even women pulled the plows in an effort to increase the wartime agricultural production though the manpower, draught oxen, farming tools and seeds were in short supply.
The Korean people were unable to overcome severe trials spanning 3 years if they did not possess the spirit to defeat the aggressors with their own efforts to defend the country.
Victory in the Fatherland Liberation War is valuable and proud, as they won victory in the revolutionary spirit of self-reliance created in the period anti-Japanese armed struggle.
60 years have elapsed since the war ceased on this land.
But history remembers an indomitable mental strength of the Korean army and the people displayed in the Fatherland Liberation War and the ever-victorious history and tradition of the Korean revolution although centuries and generations change.
Today, the hearts of the Korean army and the people who are standing up an all-out confrontation with the US imperialists under the Songun leadership of the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un, the supreme leader of the Korean people, are beating with the sturdy fighting spirit which were displayed in the days of the war.
The Korean people will demonstrate the dignity of victors without fail in the all-out confrontation with the US imperialists, as they have seasoned and experienced leadership of the respected Marshal Kim Jong Un, the peerless commander of Mt. Paektu and the sturdy mental strength of the entire army and the people tempered resolutely in the tempest of history.
