    Mausoleum of King Kyonghyo located in Haeson-ri, Kaesong City is the twin graves, that is, Hyonrung, a tomb of King Kyonghyo (King Kongmin) (1330-1374) who was the 31^st king of Koryo and Jongrung, a tomb of his wife Princess Rokukdaejang.

    It is divided into 4 terraces and it is 15 meters high from the lowest stage to the top one.

    Hyonrung and Jongrung are located on the 1 meter-high dodecagon stone foundation in the center of the first stage which is 40 meters from the east to the west and 24 meters from the south to the north.

    Hyonrung is composed of entrance and an inner chamber. The inner chamber was built with quality-granite plain rocks and its ceiling is plain.

    Mural paintings are drawn on the eastern, western and northern walls and the ceiling. The murals on three walls are the paintings of the 12 animal gods out of which 4 animal gods are on each wall.

    Drawn on the ceiling are the Great Bear on the northern part, a pair of the three stars on the southern part and the sun in the southeast side of the Great Bear.

    In the past, the Japanese imperialists brutally destroyed the mausoleum of King Kyonghyo to plunder all relics stored inside.

    President Kim Il Sung and Chairman Kim Jong Il visited the mausoleum of King Kyonghyo and instructed to preserve and manage well the relics that show high sculpture techniques of ancestors and hand them over to posterity, adding that the stone sculptures of the tombs are excellent.

    Today the mausoleum of King Kyonghyo is being preserved and managed finely thanks to the Workers’ Party of Korea’s correct policy of preserving national cultural heritage.
