The DPRK laws for ensuring human rights in the sector of environmental protection are the Law on Environment Protection, the Law of Water Resources and so on.
The DPRK Law on Environment Protection is the basic law that regulates the issues related with protection of environment.
The DPRK always pays deep attention to protection and administration of its environment to protect and promote the people’s health and provide them with cultured and hygienic environment and working condition. It also consolidates and develops the achievements made in protecting and administering environment, takes measures to protect and administer the environment better with the development of industry and other economic sectors concerned and increases the investment in it systematically. Taking thorough measures to prevent pollution before production and construction is an important demand the DPRK sets in protecting environment.
The DPRK Law of Water Resources was enacted in order to provide enough water keenly needed in the development of national economy and people’s life by establishing strict system and discipline in the survey and development, protection and utilization of water resources.
In addition, the laws for ensuring human rights in the sector of environment are the Law of Land, Law of Forest, Fluvial Law, Law of Barrage, Law of Sea Pollution Prevention, Law on Prevention of Taedong River Pollution, Law of Waste Treatment, Law of Protection of Useful Animals, Law of Disaster Prevention, Relief and Restoration, Law on Prevention and Relief of Damage from Earthquake and Volcano and so on.
Analyzing these laws, it can be clear that the rights to environment and development related to lasting development which are prioritized nowadays in the world are legalized in detail by the DPRK.
