The 4th plenary meeting of the 8th Central Committee of the Workers’ Party of Korea set forth the tasks of metallurgical and chemical industrial sectors.
Metallurgical and chemical industrial sectors, important in the national economy, should develop before others. Only then, is it possible to make all other sectors develop and to reliably guarantee the solid foundation and sustained growth of the national economy.
Officials and workers in the metallurgical and chemical industrial sectors should strive even under the present unfavourable conditions with consciousness that destiny of the independent economy and future of the country is decided by their efforts, thus encouraging the people who are advancing with optimism about a fresh victory in the revolution.
Metallurgical industrial sector should refine the Korean-style iron producing method more technically, supply raw, fuel and other materials in time to produce iron and steel as scheduled and simultaneously push ahead with its capacity expansion and modernization.
Chemical industrial sector should give full rein to the newly-created production capacity and reenergize major chemical factories, thus increasing the production of materials for light industry and pharmaceutical industry and accelerating the project to establish its new structure.
