Agricultural Cooperativization in the DPRK

The DPRK’s agricultural cooperativization to change the private economy based on the private ownership, existed in Korea for thousands of years, into the collective one based on social ownership encountered difficulties from the beginning.
At that time it was known that agriculture could be cooperativized only on the basis of industrialization.
Transformation of technology or economic form--it was a point of argument.
Kim Il Sung gave a clear-cut, original explanation to the point.
He said that, though the rural economy was not equipped with modern technology, it was necessary to transform economic form if cooperativization of agriculture presented itself as the vital need of the farmers and revolutionary forces capable of performing it were prepared. He also said that it was at the most appropriate time for agricultural cooperativization that the middle and rich peasants went into bankruptcy and other peasants could hardly do farming without uniting each other.
Kim Il Sung clarified the stage of agricultural cooperativization, the form and scale of the cooperative economy centring on the peasant masses, the subject and saw that voluntariness was adhered to and correct class policy was realized.
Under the wise leadership of Kim Il Sung who led energetically to demonstrate in practice the advantage of new cooperatives by strengthening material, technical and financial aids to the cooperatives, agricultural cooperativization was completed with success in four or five years after the war.
