The DPRK has undertaken the work for guaranteeing rights and interests of the aged and ensuring their worthwhile life in good health, both mentally and physically, since long ago.
After the founding of the DPRK, President Kim Il Sung saw that the State laws and decrees were adopted to enforce the popular policies of taking full responsible care of the aged people’s life.
The DPRK organized the Central Committee of the Korea Federation for Care of the Aged long ago. The DPRK adopted the “DPRK Law on Protection of the Elderly” on April 26, 2007, thus guaranteeing the law to thoroughly secure rights and interests of the aged, respect them and provide them with better living conditions.
Old people’s homes were built wonderfully in all parts of the country under the warm care of the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un, and the aged people are provided with genuine rights and interests and lead a stable and happy life under the benefits of the WPK’s popular system of protecting the aged.
Every year the DPRK holds colourful functions such as artistic performances, sporting events and amusement games in Pyongyang and all provinces of the country on the occasion of the International Day of the Aged People. This contributes to establishing the social atmosphere of respecting the aged and providing them with convenience and living conditions.
It is only under the DPRK’s socialist system which takes care of the aged with noble sense of morality and obligation toward the revolutionary forerunners that the aged can lead a happy life by being respected and treated in society. Herein lies the superiority of the Korean-style socialist system.
