With great pride and dignity, the DPRK people who greet significantly the 70th anniversary of the founding of the Workers’ Party of Korea look back with deep emotion on the history of the Workers’ Party of Korea that pioneered a correct way of building the Juche-type socialist ruling Party for the first time in history and was strengthened and developed into the experienced and seasoned socialist ruling Party through the history of protracted and arduous struggle.
Today there are many parties in the world, but there is no such party as the WPK that has invariably adhered to its own nature and revolutionary character for 70 years since it was founded as a socialist ruling Party and led confidently the socialist cause to victory with the perfect feature befitting the socialist ruling Party assumed along with the advance of the revolution.
The WPK is the revolutionary Party of a new type that emerged as the ruling Party of Juche type for the first time in the history of the socialist movement reflecting the demand of the historic times when the struggle of the working masses for independence entered a new high stage.
First of all, a new road of building the socialist ruling Party as the Party of the leader was paved by the foundation of the WPK.
Revolutionary cause of the working class, the cause of socialism is the cause pioneered, advanced and completed by the leader. Like all other political organizations of the working class, the party is founded, strengthened and developed by the leader and it can lead correctly the struggle for socialist cause only under the leader’s ideology and leadership. There cannot be the socialist ruling party that is outside the leader’s ideology and leadership without being united with the leader as a center.
In the past, the issue of building a party into the leader’s party could not be raised as the working-class leader was regarded as a distinguished individual. With the rise of modern revisionism the counter-revolutionary moves that slandered the authority and dignity of the leader were perpetrated within many socialist parties. Accordingly, the monolithic character of the working-class revolutionary party’s ideology and leadership failed to be ensured and the socialist cause was exposed to danger.
President Kim Il Sung put it forward as the fundamental principle in Party building to ensure the monolithic character of ideology and leadership in the Party and built the Party into the Party of the leader through the struggle to establish the monolithic ideological and leadership system of the Party.
In this process, the unity and cohesion of the WPK was developed into the ideological and willing, moral and obligatory unity and cohesion of the whole Party that is based on the leader’s ideology with the leader as a centre. A new road of building the mass Party was paved also by the founding of the WPK.
In the past party was regarded as political organization of a certain class representing and defending the interest of the class. Although it is a vanguard unit struggling to realize the demand and aspiration of the certain class, it is impossible to realize the political leadership over the society if socialist ruling party is built only for the working class. It is a lawful requirement to build the party into the mass party in the socialist society where the masses of all walks of life are transformed as the socialist working people and the social and class composition becomes more and more simple.
The President put forward the original line of building the mass Party in keeping with the law of the development of socialist society and, on its basis, built the mass Party defending the popular masses’ interest and embracing the advanced elements of the workers, peasants and working intellectuals and thus ushered in a new era of building the socialist ruling Party.
The emblem of the Party engraving a hammer, sickle and writing brush is a symbol of the WPK that leads the cause of socialism by relying on the united efforts of the working masses.
A new road of building the socialist ruling Party into the motherly Party was paved also by the founding of the WPK.
The working class party emerged at the request of the revolutionary struggle to shape out the popular masses’ destiny. Its mission is to bear responsibility for and lead their destiny. Relation between the party and the people can be solid and strong when the party treasures and loves the people much as their mother. The countries that were building socialism in the past regarded that the issue of relationship with the masses would be settled of its own accord once the party seize power and failed to direct due attention to it.
It is an important principle of the Party building put forward originally by the President, the incarnation of benevolence, to build the socialist ruling Party into the motherly Party that is responsible for and looking after the people’s destiny.
When he declared the founding of the Party, the President put it forward as an important programme to provide the people with happy material and cultural life by making the popular masses the genuine masters of the state, enforcing all democratic reforms and building a prosperous independent sovereign state.
Under the wise leadership of the President, the WPK placed the popular masses at the center of its activities and made the Party work become the organizational and political work to enable the people to lead worthwhile and happy life as social beings, thus serving as the mother to whom the people entirely entrust their all. Today the DPRK people regard the WPK as their political guide and entrust their all to the Party, and turn out as one in the efforts to consummate the revolutionary cause of Juche following the Party.
The founding of the WPK was the birth of the Juche-type revolutionary Party, first in history, and a significant event that ushered in a new era of building the socialist ruling Party.
Historic cause of building the socialist ruling Party started by the President and led by the Chairman is now being brilliantly carried forward by the respected Marshal Kim Jong Un.
