     Today the DPRK people display the revolutionary spirit of self-reliance to make dynamic efforts to add luster to the dignity and honor of the nation and achieve prosperity of the country.

    Self-reliance is the spirit of national self-respect to achieve the prosperity of the nation and beat the world by one’s efforts, natural resources and technique.

    The spirit of national self-respect is the will and self-awareness of defending and adding luster to the dignity of the country and nation by one’s own with the pride of having greatness of his dignified nation.

    The spirit of national self-respect is inconceivable apart from self-reliance, and the dignity and development of the nation are ensured thoroughly only when the revolutionary spirit of self-reliance is displayed to the full.

    Self-reliance serves as the spirit of the national self-respect because it is the spirit that enables the people to carve out the destiny of the country and nation on their own initiative on the basis of absolute trust in their own strength.

    Self-reliance is the spirit of rising up by one’s own strength.

    It is impossible to carve out not only one’s destiny but also the destiny of the country and nation with success if the people fail to possess the spirit of solving all problems by their own efforts.

    The spirit of rising up by one’s own strength can be harbored only when it is based on absolute trust in one’s own strength.

    Only the one who is possessed of absolute trust and conviction in his own strength can carve out the destiny of the country and nation on his own initiative.

    It was proved by the historic struggle of the Korean people.

    Kept in mind the national pride and self-confidence of having held the great leader Kim Il Sung as the center of leadership and unity, the Korean people turned out in the nationwide struggle to put an end to the Japanese colonial rule by themselves, thus achieving the historic cause of national liberation.

    They could reject resolutely the foreign intervention and pressure, and have built and added brilliance to socialism by their own strength and efforts.

    Chollima speed was created on the debris and the miracle of national history of giving birth to the manufacturer and launcher of artificial satellite and the nuclear state could be performed, thanks to the efforts of the people who have absolute belief in and are conscious of their own strength.

    For the Korean people, the belief in their own strength is the absolute trust in the ideology, cause and leadership of their leaders.

    Through the whole history of the revolution and construction, the Korean people acquired as their faith the truth that the ideology, cause and leadership of the great leaders are the most just ones and they can emerge victorious only when they uphold the ideology and leadership of the leaders.

    Today the Korean people absolutely support and follow the ideology and leadership of the respected Marshal Kim Jong Un and strive to consummate the revolutionary cause of Juche while holding him as their spiritual mainstay and prop of faith.

    Self-reliance serves as the spirit of national self-respect also because it is the spirit that enables the people to achieve prosperity of the country and nation by their own efforts in defiance of any difficulty and ordeal.

    The struggle for the independence of the popular masses that is being conducted with a country and nation as a unit is accompanied by numerous difficulties and ordeals.

    In particular, imperialists and reactionaries make desperate moves to disturb independent development and prosperity of countries and nations.

    Under such condition, people can achieve prosperity of the country and nation in defiance of any difficulty and ordeal only when they give full play to the revolutionary spirit of self-reliance.

    The people who are possessed of the spirit of overcoming all trials and difficulties by themselves can only turn adversity into prosperity and create everything from nothing. History of the Korean people’s struggle conducted under the leadership of the leaders proves it.

    After liberation the coffers of the state were empty and everything was in short due to the colonial plunder the Japanese imperialists. However, the Korean people produced submachine gun, rehabilitated many factories and enterprises destroyed by the Japanese imperialists and hastened the building of a new society, by their own strength.

    Although everything was reduced to ashes due to the 3-year Korean War provoked by the US imperialists, they created miracles and innovations of manufacturing tractors, trucks and electric locomotives and rehabilitated the destroyed factories and enterprises by their own efforts, thus pressing ahead the socialist construction.

    Even in the period of the Arduous March and the forced march when they were faced with unprecedented difficulties and ordeals, the Korean people, cherishing faith in sure victory that a thousand miles of hardship will lead to a million miles of happiness, firmly safeguarded the independence of the country and nation and laid a solid foundation for the building of a thriving nation by their own efforts.

    The spirit of self-reliance displayed by the Korean people in the past is steadily inherited still today.
