Korean Women’s Life

The Law on Sex Equality was promulgated in the DPRK in 1946.

Since its promulgation the Korean women have led a worthwhile and true life thanks to the state benefits and social policies.

Above all, the Korean women are leading the dignified and worthwhile political life with the rights to participate in the socio-political life like men.

Every Korean woman has rights to elect and to be elected. They are elected as the deputy to the Supreme People’s Assembly and organs of state power of all levels and have their say in discussing the affairs of the state. Lots of women fully display their ability in the Party, the state and economic organizations and other important bodies and contribute to the development of the society. All the women belong to different political organizations to glorify their political integrity.

The Korean women also become the true masters of the economic life.

They are the masters of the means of production and receive the same remuneration as men with the rights to labour. They can get jobs suiting to their talents and gift and receive special protection of labour. In the DPRK the women are not allowed to do harmful and arduous labour. Nursing mothers and pregnant working women are prohibited from night labour. Hygienic facilities of labour protection, nurseries and kindergartens are established for the woman workers. The women with over 3 children work 6 hours a day and receive the salary equivalent to 8-hour work done. The women receive maternity leave irrespective of length of service, except regular and supplementary leave.

The Korean women are also enjoying a happy and cultural life.

All the women are involved in different educational systems, fully enjoying the rights to learning and protect their health under the benefits of the fine public health.

They are receiving medical service in the Pyongyang Maternity Hospital, Breast Tumor Institute of the Pyongyang Maternity Hospital and some other wonderfully-built hospitals.

The Korean women are leading a happy cultural and sentimental life and receiving the welfare service in the cultural service bases splendidly built across the country. They are free from the heavy burden of housekeeping.

They have the complete equal rights in family, marriage and education of children.

They are in charge of one wheel of the revolution and devote their wisdom and zeal to the motherland that gives them happy and true life.

They perform new miracles and feats in production and construction, science and culture, education and sports and other fields and thus make a big contribution to the development of the country.

That’s why lots of women become heroines, merited women in the era of Songun and models of the era for everyone to learn after.

Indeed, no woman in the world will be happier than the Korean women as they become the masters of the state and the society and lead a happy and true life like men.
