Once President Kim Il Sung saw new farm machine working in the field.
Seeing the machine working for a while, he said that he would feel uneasy whenever he hears the sound of thunder in autumn days. He also said that we must produce more farm machines of this kind to prevent the crop damage from hail and asked an official whether he knows the regions vulnerable to hails.
He answered he didn’t. The President said that according to his observation hails hit always the same area every year and started to count down those areas one by one.
It was an issue even the experts were not aware. The officials were all surprised by the President who knew in detail about the areas always hit by the hail.
They were all the more surprised after a moment.
The President told the officials how to prevent the hail damage and said there was another problem. That was how to prevent the damage of frost.
The President said that the date of first frost came earlier in recent years and asked to all of them whether they knew about it.
One official said he knows about it. But even he could not answer to the question of the President on how early frost hit that year than the previous year.
He asked them whether they were informed about the date of first frost of that year.
One official started to report him about the date of first frost according to the regions.
The President calculated something hearing the report on one region and then asked the date of first prost of next region.
Officials couldn’t guess about what the President was calculating.
At last the official finished his report.
The President told the officials that in the Royngchon plain the first frost came 8 days earlier than usual. After this the President counted the date of first frost came earlier than usual according to every region starting from the Paektu plateau in the north to the Yonbaek plain in the south.
The officials were deeply moved by the words of the President.
Then he told them that according to the present weather condition the first frost could be expected next year on such and such dates approximately, therefore a strict measure must be taken to prevent the frost damage.
The dates of first frost of next year in each region were exactly the same as was predicted by the President.
The story of correct prediction of weather by President Kim Il Sung remains among the Korean people as a revolutionary legend on “Legendary great man who mastered the weather.”
