“Motherly party” is not a term formulated by a thinker or a politician.

It is an honourary title, the immortal name peculiar to the Workers’ Party of Korea called by the DPRK people of themselves.

It reflects the DPRK people’s absolute support to and trust in the WPK who has brought the noble ideal The people are god in reality in a consistent and perfect manner in the glorious course of its history spanning scores of years.

Chairman Kim Jong Il strengthened and developed the WPK into a motherly party. He considered the ideal The people are god as the starting point and supreme principle of the Party building and activities and devoted his whole life to the wellbeing of the people.

He saw that all production and construction were carried out with the people’s conveniences put before others and their view and appraisal as an absolute standard and the popular policies were enforced invariably even in the worst trials which decided the destiny of the country. His leadership of love and devotion for the people served as a factor that made the WPK implanted deep in the people’s minds as a picture of a meticulous and careful mother and the red flag of Juche Party become a beacon for their life and struggle through centuries.

Through the arduous struggle full of trials, the WPK has been strengthened and developed into a revolutionary Party, a motherly party that strikes its roots deep into the masses of the people and forms a blood kinship and harmonious whole with them.

Trust and love of the WPK served as the motive force that enabled it to take responsible care of the political integrity of all the people and led them invariably along the road of the revolution, and the nutritious elements that enabled them to lead a happy and worthwhile life even under the manifold trials and difficulties.

With the revolutionary life of Kim Jong Il who loved the people passionately and devoted his all in order to take responsible care of their destiny and future, the WPK could add lustre to its name called a genuine motherly party that strikes its roots deep into the people and enjoys their absolute support and trust.

The WPK, true to Kim Jong Il’s noble love for the people, regards it as a revolutionary Party custom and a mode of its existence to make selfless, devoted efforts for the good of the people. Today the WPK records the era of comprehensive development in the sacred history of the people-first principle.
