It was on April 15, 1998 when Chairman Kim Jong Il visited a Korean People’s Army unit which had a record of revolutionary activities of President Kim Il Sung, while making ceaseless field inspection on frontline units of the People’s Army.
When he climbed up Mt. Jihye and stood for a long time in front of the monument telling immortal exploits of the President, Kim Jong Il told officials in a hoarse voice that he failed to visit the then Kumsusan Memorial Palace and pay respect to the President as he greeted April 15, the President’s birthday, on the frontline. He suggested the officials to pay respect to the President in front of the monument.
Kim Jong Il showed respect to the President with the officials in front of the monument.
