“Rossiskaya Gazeta”, the government organ of the Russian Federation, carried an article under the title “The DPRK Greets the 78^th Anniversary of Defeating Japan” on August 13, 2023. The article reads:

… President Kim Il Sung founded the Anti-Japanese People’s Guerilla Army on April 25, 1932. At that time, the army was a small-sized one with approximately 100 guerillas. It did not have any home front or the support of a regular army. Its guerillas challenged the Japanese army, equipped with modern weapons such as tanks, warplanes and warships, with rifles and pistols.

… President Kim Il Sung enhanced self-consciousness and sense of organization among the masses of the people, thus rousing them to an all-people resistance against Japanese imperialism.

… The Koreans were united as one with the Association for the Restoration of the Fatherland as a centre to make preparations for an all-people resistance according to the plan of President Kim Il Sung.

… Japan declared an unconditional surrender on August 15, 1945.
