The Society for Cooperation with Compatriots in Germany posted an article titled “House of children’s dreams” introducing the Songdowon International Children’s Camp, on November 3, 2014.

Noting that the camp is very much the same as a roll of famous picture as it was built magnificently harmonizing with scenic beauty of Songdowon which has been known as a scenic spot from ancient times, the article said as follows.

“Every depiction of camping buildings of peculiar architectural beauty, international friendship children’s hall, outdoor stadium, indoor gymnasium, outdoor wading pool, open-air archery field, aquarium, aviary, etc. leads children to a world of fairy tales.

Illuminations on ceilings of the camping buildings lead them to the mysterious world like the moon and stars, whereas a cave-shaped tank in the aquarium makes them feel as if they were under the sea.

The camp is not only a world of fairy tales that makes the children happy and cheerful but a house of hope where they can dream of the future to their heart’s content.”

It continued.

“The first surprise is that everything in the camp including modern buildings, advanced furnishings, facilities, equipment and materials is beyond imagination and that all of them are provided to campers free of charge.

The second surprise is that, in the DPRK, children of ordinary working people enjoy camping in such a wonderful place that would be possible only for those of millionaires or privileged ones in other countries.

The third surprise is that all of these are the application and fruition of the consistent and steadfast line and policy of the Party and the government.

In the speech delivered in June 2012 at the event held in celebration of the 66th founding anniversary of the Korean Children’s Union, the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un said that dear KCU members are the most valuable treasure, hope and future for the Workers’ Party of Korea and the Republic.

Like this, it has been built into a world first-class camp thanks to Kim Jong Un, who, possessed of the noble love for his posterities and view on the future, initiated its reconstruction and made every possible measure while visiting it several times.”
