It was on April 14, 1977 when President Kim Il Sung gave a field guidance to the Kaechon and Anju areas.

An official asked the President, who was concerned about coal production even at night, to go to bed.

The President told the official that he couldn’t have a sleep because of worry about the coal production. The President said that he would better go to a face and try to mine coal.

After a while the President said that he was too old to do so. The President said to himself that he would go down into the face to produce as much coal as he could if he were 10 years younger. Saying that he shoulders a heavy task to provide his people with affluent life to be envied by others, the President continued working.
