One April day in 1946, President Kim Il Sung called officials to acquaint himself with the campaign for Labour Heroes.
The campaign launched on Kim Il Sung’s personal initiative was in full swing in all factories, mines and rural areas across the country.
Being told about the progress of the campaign, Kim Il Sung stressed to further vitalize the campaign with the first May Day after the liberation of the country as an occasion. He continued that it would be advisable to elect units and individual workers across the country who were models in the campaign, so that they could win great commendations on the occasion of May Day.
Kim Il Sung said that the ceremony will be a significant meeting that gives commendations to the working people for the first time in our country with a 5 000-year-long history. He continued that it was essential to make good preparations and it was also advisable to make representatives of political parties and public organizations join the meeting to deliver speeches in honor of the Labour Heroes as the ceremony was an important gathering to give official commendations to them, the forerunners of the country.
The ceremony was held with splendor on the occasion of the first May Day after the liberation amid the great interest of the whole country.
