One June day in 1999 Chairman Kim Jong Il visited the Sinuiju Cosmetics Factory in North Phyongan Province.
Looking round several workshops of the factory, Kim Jong Il found out problems to be solved with his profound knowledge and keen insight and gave teachings to bring about a radical turn in production while telling officials about the world trend of the cosmetics industry.
That day Kim Jong Il taught in detail the direction of building a new factory in a scenic place with trees and mountains.
When he visited the Sinuiju Cosmetics Factory which was under construction, Kim Jong Il gave precious teachings for construction of the factory such as the issue of building the factory qualitatively to satisfy the modern aesthetic point of view, the issue of supplying industrial water and the issue of turning the factory into a thick woodland.
When it was newly built, Kim Jong Il visited it in January and December 2001.
Looking round the factory, Kim Jong Il stressed the need to make cosmetics in a diverse way and improve their quality to suit to women’s tastes.
Saying that it is necessary to make all cosmetics same in quality and it is a socialist society where goods, equal in quality, are manufactured and supplied to the people, Kim Jong Il emphasized that they should not make some people use quality goods and some others use ones of bad quality because of their difference in quality.
That day Kim Jong Il gave detailed teachings to improve the packaging of cosmetics and put their production on a normal track.
In this way, world-famous Pomhyanggi cosmetics were born thanks to Kim Jong Il’s tireless efforts and warm love for the people.
