It was February 16 one year when Chairman Kim Jong Il was studying at Kim Il Sung University.

His fellow students earnestly requested Kim Jong Il to celebrate his birthday together with them.

Reading their minds, Kim Jong Il said that he was very grateful to them for their sincerity and comradely love, but he could not enjoy his birthday.

Kim Jong Il was in deep thought for a while and said that he could not enjoy his birthday as President Kim Il Sung had never marked his birthday though he had devoted his whole life to the country and the people but still continued devoting himself to prosperity of the country and happiness of the people.

Kim Jong Il said that it was necessary to learn from the attitude, stand and example of the anti-Japanese revolutionary fighters in supporting the President. He said that revolutionaries could lead a worthwhile life only when they cherished loyalty to the leader and that their lives could be glorious only when they were dedicated to the leader.

What he said on his birthday was a motto of life and struggle for a true revolutionary.
