    One day in August 2007, Chairman Kim Jong Il came to Jonggwang Temple in Wonsa-ri, Riwon County, South Hamgyong Province. He instructed to let the people come and see the temple, adding that the temple houses as they are the rare paintings and other valuable historic remains of national significance which reflect contemporary phase of the times. He noted that there are a lot of valuable historic and cultural remains in Korea which has a long history of 5 000 years and splendid culture and they are the pride of the Korean nation.

    That day, Chairman Kim Jong Il stressed that it is necessary to properly retain the excellent national cultural heritages in all fields, saying that it is of weighty significance in preserving the Juche character and national character and cultivating patriotism to properly conserve and manage historic cultural remains associated with the Korean people’s wisdom and talents and intensify education through them.
