    It was March 21, 2000 when leader Kim Jong Il visited an ex-service man’s house in the Taehongdan County Combined Farm.

    They greeted politely to the leader who entered the yard, saying thanks because he visited their house before their parents.

    Saying that he should be deserved to visit first the newly-married ex-servicemen’s houses, leader Kim Jong Il asked when they got married.

    A leading person of the County Party Committee told him that they got married in the previous year and his wife was pregnant.

    At his words she was blushed.

    She was strained before the leader. Furthermore, she was at a loss because the leading person told him even her private affairs.

    However, leader Kim Jong Il said that it was the happiest news of everything he had been told and took detailed account of the number of ex-servicemen’s wives who would be delivered in the near future.

    The ex-serviceman and his wife were moved by solicitude of leader Kim Jong Il who took care of the ex-servicemen’s families.

    The leader looked around every corner of their house such as kitchen, store and bathroom and got concrete information about their living conditions.

    He was as if he were father who visited his newly-married daughter.

    After a while the leader asked the ex-serviceman’s wife when she would be delivered and if she could give birth to a son.

    She answered without hesitation to his kind question that she would give birth to a son. Then she requested the leader with whisper to name her child who would be born in such a meaningful day when the leader visited her house.

    Leader Kim Jong Il smiled at her unexpected request and said that child should be named by its father, but he would name it to the effect of blessing their future. He said that it would be better to name son-to-be Tae Hong and daughter-to-be Hong Dan.

    The people around him were moved by his affectionate words. He said that it would be Taehongdan meaning much if their names were joined together. Then he said that their son would be Min Tae Hong and their daughter Min Hong Dan since the family name of their father-to-be was Min.

    It is a moving story that can be heard only between parents and their children. It is an episode showing the genuine feature of the DPRK which had leader Kim Jong Il as its father. Later the ex-serviceman and his wife had a daughter named Min Hong Dan and there are tens of children named Tae Hong and Hong Dan in Taehongdan County.
