Chairman Kim Jong Il said.
“If the creative power of the masses is to be brought into play in the revolution and construction, a struggle must be waged against all outdated things that hamper innovations.”
In the struggle against all outdated things that hamper innovations, it is important to wage an active struggle against passivism, conservatism and defeatism.
Passivism and conservatism are the ideological tendency and working attitude of fearing about working and living actively and daringly or of hindering advance and innovations while rejecting new, progressive and revolutionary ones by resorting to the old and outdated ones.
Defeatism is an idea that makes one afraid of difficulties and step back from them or abandon oneself to despair without confidence in victory in the revolutionary struggle and construction. When one abandons oneself to defeatism, one is unable to find the way out and becomes incompetent. In the revolutionary struggle, defeatism leads the people to surrender and degeneration.
Only when the struggle is intensified against passivism, conservatism and defeatism, can one give fuller play to the creative power of the popular masses and bring about ceaseless innovations and upswing in the revolution and construction.
