To work out policy and carry it through is the main in politics. Only party and government which work out all policies independently can enforce independent politics.
In order to work out policies independently and implement them, it is necessary to have correct guiding thought.
Guiding thought is a basic factor that determines the character and mission of government and principle and mode of its activities. Solidity and vitality of politics are guaranteed by the guiding thought. Even though it is socialist government, form of the government and in principle and mode of its activities will be different according to guiding thought it has.
Guiding thoughts of revolutionary parties have commonness in that they reflect independent demand and interests of the popular masses, the motive force of the revolution. However, they have their own characteristics since situations are different from each other. Therefore, every party and government should act independently with correct guiding thought in accordance with demand and interests of its country and people.
Independent politics is to work out a policy by oneself and carry it through. Tolerating foreign pressure and intervention in politics or playing to the tune of others makes it impossible to maintain principled character and consistency, and in the long run, it leads to failure in the revolution and construction.
